In the Beginning: The Word and the Light

A journey from Bereshit to the Gospel of John

Genesis 1:1–5 · John 1:1–14

The opening words of Bereshit invite us into a world made by the word of Adonai. Before the rhythms of days and seasons, before any human achievement, God speaks and light enters the darkness.

The Gospel of John opens with the same language: ‘In the beginning.’ John directs our attention to the Word through whom all things were made and presents Yeshua as the Word made flesh.

Reading these passages together encourages us to approach Scripture as a unified testimony. We do not rush past the Torah to find Yeshua; we learn to listen for God's instruction throughout the whole story.

This is the posture of a learner: attentive, humble, and ready to let the Word shape our everyday choices.

Read slowly. Discuss openly. Grow together.
